I have spent my career doing what I loosely call IT strategy. This includes developing formal enterprise IT strategic plans as well as more focused assessments and plans for enterprise roll-outs of specific technologies. There have also been plenty of process reengineering and application development projects thrown in.
The common thread has been the creation of business value through the thoughtful application of information technologies. The particular technologies have varied from project to project, but the objective has always been the same.
I have worked in a large consulting firm (Deloitte), a start-up consulting firm (Axiom Management Consulting), a mid-sized consulting firm (Cambridge Technology Partners) and in the professional services organization of a software firm (Novell). I am now an independent consultant.
